Official summary

Certain Santa Fe (MX5A) and Santa Fe Hybrid (MX5A HEV) vehicles may produce a “pop”, “tick”, or “creak” noise from a missing weld on the mounting stud of the right front subframe while driving. The vehicle’s structural integrity is maintained even with a missing weld; however, drivers may report an abnormal noise coming from the affected area during certain driving scenarios. This bulletin describes the procedure to inspect, and if necessary, repair the missing weld on the mounting stud to eliminate the noise.

What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
