Official summary
2017 vehicles equipped with a 2.0L GTDI, 2.3L GTDI, or 2.5L PFI engine will either be equipped with a diamond washer on each side of a smooth-faced crankshaft timing sprocket (early build), or a crankshaft timing sprocket with laser etched faces and no diamond washers (late build). If equipped, diamond washers should be cleaned, inspected and reused, if undamaged. Diamond washers should never be installed along with a laser etched crankshaft timing sprocket.
