This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician how to install the new style ignition lock cylinder into the vehicle. When installing the new cylinder it is important to carefully inspect the housing for debris or damage from the old lock cylinder. No tools are required for installing the new lock cylinder. When installing into the housing, ensure that the lock cylinder is fully seated to ensure it latches into position. Do not use the old style lock cylinder that is still used on the manual transmission vehicle on an automatic transmission car.

What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
