Official summary
This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have a service 4 wheel drive message and the transfer case is stuck in neutral. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code C0398 set in the Transfer Case Control Module. Technician should verify if the vehicle was dinghy towed the vehicle using the owner's manual procedure. If the vehicle has a C0398 after this type of procedure clear the Diagnostic Trouble Code and return the vehicle to the customer with a copy of this Preliminary Information.
