The defect

Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2024 BC1200XL brush chippers. The mounting bolts which secures the axle to the mainframe may not have been properly tightened.

The risk

A loose axle mounting bolt can result in the axle separating from the brush chipper, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix — what to do

Dealers will replace the mounting bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 22, 2024. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051, ext. 7060. Vermeer's number for this recall is IK4576.
