The license plate lamp may be installed in the incorrect position and at an incorrect angle, causing the plate to not be properly illuminated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
