Official summary

Some owners may comment about the front door locks that self lock when exiting the vehicles, which may result in a customer locked out of the vehicle if the key is left in the vehicle. This can occur when the inside door handle is pulled to the full open position and then quickly released, allowing handle to snap back to the closed position. A revised design lock mechanism is being developed and will be available for service early in 2000. *tt

What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
