Official summary

Emissions recall 96e57 - certain 1996 explorers equipped with the 4.0l engines and built at the louisville assembly plant on 11/18/95 and certain 1997 explorers equipped with the 4.0l engines and built at the louisville assembly plant from start of 1997 production through 8/14/96 were built and shipped with incorrect vapor management valves installed in the evaporative emissions control system - incorrect valves may cause the vehicles to exceed evaporative emissions standards - to correct this condition, owners will be notified to return their explorers for replacement of the vapor management
