Official summary

Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles equipped with an 8-cylinder engine, the software of the engine control unit may not correspond to the current specifications. Under specific conditions, the OBD system may not detect an aged catalyst, which could impair the engine’s ability to adjust the catalyst heating, potentially resulting in increased exhaust emissions. MBUSA will conduct an emission service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the engine control unit software on the affected vehicles.
