Official summary
Some 2020-2021 Escape and 2021 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with 1.5L EcoBoost engines may experience an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P3402. This may be due to the cylinder 1 deactivation solenoid. To correct this condition, replace the cylinder deactivation solenoid with service part number H6BZ-6H082-A. DTC P0299 may also be present. Diagnose P3402 first, then determine if DTC P0299 returns and follow normal Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures as necessary.
