INFORMATION If an i3 or i8 is brought in for service with a Service Engine Soon (MIL) lamp illuminated, or with a customer concern that the MIL is intermittently illuminated, troubleshoot with ISTA/D. During diagnosis, refer to the functional description (FUB), Troubleshooting Malfunction Indicator Lamp I01. This document explains the rationale behind what triggers an MIL on an electrified vehicle, as well as some diagnostic hints.
