Official summary

Some 2018 Escape vehicles equipped with a 1.5L or 2.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction indicator (wrench) lamp with DTC P061E stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). Clear the DTC and return the vehicle to the customer. Do not attempt any other repairs at this time. Do not replace the PCM or brake pedal position (BPP)/brake on off (BOO) switch. Engineering is investigating. To assist with the investigation use the Report A Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the OASIS report and complete the form. Monitor OASIS for updates.

What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
