Official summary
Some vehicles may experience an occassional and unexpected illumination of the cruise main indicator light (amber) with the ignition key operation cycle of off-start-on. It can be cancelled by the operation of either auto cruise switch or the ignition key operation cycle of off-start-on. Note: the normal operation of the cruise control is not affected by this issue. This problem may be caused by a weak battery (low voltage) and replacement of the battery is recommended to correct it. Use the gr8-1291 to test the battery.
What a TSB means. Technical service bulletins are repair guidance manufacturers send to dealers — they are not recalls, and repairs are not automatically free (warranty extensions are an exception worth checking). The full document is available via NHTSA’s vehicle lookup.
