Bmw: voluntary emissions recall campaign 10e-a01: program control units (dme retrofit). An error in dme (digital motor electronics) software, it may not be possible to read out the dme data using a non bmw tester (i.e., scan tool, etc.). As a result, affected vehicles may not be able to pass a state emission inspection where the testing procedure consists of scanning obd readiness codes. *pe
