The defect

Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2023 Granite (GR) vehicles. The front-drive steer axle fasteners may not have been tightened sufficiently and could come loose, resulting in a complete separation of the axle assembly joints.

The risk

Steer axle assembly separation can result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix — what to do

Dealers will replace and tighten the axle fasteners, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 20, 2023. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0441.
