The defect

Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2014 IC Bus CE, 2019 IC Bus CE, and 2022 IC Bus CE school buses. These buses are not equipped with enough emergency exits. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."

The risk

A lack of emergency exits can delay passengers from exiting the vehicle during an emergency, increasing their risk of injury.
