The defect

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020 GLE350, GLE450 AND GLS450 vehicles. The seams on the rear crossmember may have been insufficiently welded. This may allow cracks to form when towing, possibly causing the rear crossmember to detach from the vehicle.

The risk

If the rear crossmember detaches from the vehicle, it can become a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash.

Check whether your specific vehicle is affected
