The defect
PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain model year 2015 Kenworth K270 and K370 trucks manufactured February 4, 2014, to October 10, 2014, and 2014-2015 Peterbilt 220 trucks manufactured December 5, 2013, to October 10, 2014, equipped with certain Wabco Quick Release Valves with Double Check manufactured February 6, 2013, to April 19, 2014. The affected vehicles may have been produced with a defective valve seat installed.
The risk
Improper seating can result in the valves improperly adjusting air pressure levels, thereby reducing the braking performance of the vehicles and increasing the risk of a crash.
