What NHTSA is examining

Dorel juvenile group (djg) will conduct a safety recall (09c-005) to replace the base of maxi-cosi mico rear-facing infant restraints manufactured from june 2007 through february 17, 2008.the recalled seat and base combinations have model numbers 22371 and 22372, and the base only (purchased separately) has model number 22515.versions of the base manufactured after february 17, 2008, incorporate design changes and are not included in the recall.the original design of the maxi-cosi mico base could cause the locking mechanism to bind and not properly secure the infant seat to its base.if the seat is not properly attached to the base, the seat will not provide proper protection for the child during a crash or vehicle braking and maneuvering.owners of maxi-cosi mico bases can call djg at 1-877-657-9546 or visit its web site at http://www.djgusa.com for further information about the recall, including determining whether their base is included in the recall, and for instructions for safe installation of the seat on the base.based on the above safety recall, this investigation is closed.
