What NHTSA is examining

This investigation has not identified any subject tires that have experienced a structural failure of the sidewall resulting in loss of inflation air from the tire due to the alleged defect.All of the complaints and claims have related to a visible bubble on the tire sidewall.This investigation has also revealed the following information: ? There have been no property damage claims, crashes or injuries resulting from the alleged defect in the subject tires; ? There have been no allegations that the alleged defect in the subject tires has resulted in any vehicle control issues; and ? No new complaints have been received by ODI since March 2009.Accordingly, this investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist.The agency will continue to monitor complaints and other information relating to the alleged defect in the subject vehicles and take further action in the future if warranted.For additional information regarding this Engineering Analysis, see the closing report in the Documents folder.
